Geomagnetic Indices

This section presents key geomagnetic indices used to monitor and quantify disturbances in Earth's magnetosphere caused by solar activity.

The Kp index provides a global measure of geomagnetic activity over 3-hour intervals, while the Dst index reflects the intensity of the ring current, a key indicator of geomagnetic storm strength.

The Dst index is provided by the World Data Center for Geomagnetism (WDC Kyoto). The Kp index is provided by the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center (NOAA SWPC).
